Project update - 4th June

We have found an activist server to host the project Mur.at they are volunteer led and based in austria focused on hosting arts partice and are run on a pay what you can basis. This is a good long term stagery for the project, there were more queer feminist focused serves we did dicuss with however they could not offer the level of longevity we hope for.

Project update - 29th April

We are currently looking into the best femenist / activist server to use for the project, weighing up the value system of the server, their abilty to house and support the project long term and the need for VPS.

Next week we will be installing wiki structure and are in need of intial content, draft ouline of grounding principles, introduction/ welcome text.

...feminist queer collective knowlege network ...co-written queer resource ...queering Knowledge Bank

Not Found On’s aim is to be a online co-written and incomplete non-stanardised english language collective knowledge space/network for feminist, queer and intersectionally focused artistic and social projects plus the spaces that support them. With a specific focus on strategies of being and doing, self organisation and radical self care.

This a peer sharing resource is being created using open source tools, and designed and written with, for and by queer feminist bodies. Putting the subjective experience of the body at the centre of knowledge creation. Working with text, images, audio and video as valid knowledge entries. Embracing that knowledge is not neutral .

-'the invisible gate' how to not become a gatekeeper, policing identity, who's queer enough, what does the word queer mean, how to connect with the in-crowd, how to find 'alive' spaces, how to welcome people -the tension between openness, shared diversity, safety and feeling at home with likeminded people -the aspect of time (in the physical world) and vocabulary -no questions asked / specifically naming identities / how to deal with intersectionality -how to overcome the anxiety of inclusion. there's online safety and there's a personal feeling of safety and they can be two different things, they interact -the moment where you want tosay something, but then don't -who has the authority to 'police' -how can we share responsibility

Loops can have overlap, overlaps of knowledge sharing, a loop has an exit and an entry, non linear, not needing to always going forward, a Loop as a continuous movement A loop is messy, doesn't follow the logic of evolution going forward, can go back to former iterations.

Idea of Non fixed identities, re-iterating your identity (and relations with others): how do we give visibility to the identities sharing knowledge? Can contributor's change their appearance or representation? Fluid representation or anonymity; can fixed representation be a form of authority?

Digital space as an opportunity to completely step aside or explore other identity expression (avatar, name, language, etc..)

No fixed style, or standardisation of content. Having the freedom to write from your own point of view. One account shared by many people? not a singular identity contributor, but a rotation / multiple people.

The need/desire for a conscious level of gatekeeping to facilitate an online safer space. (A) 'Being safe' and (B) 'Feeling safe' are different yet heavily interconnected concepts.

In order to fertilize a feeling of safety. (strategies)

1. NFO can communicate its strategies and values to let people know what measures are taken. 2. Next to transparancy, and having the knowledge of which context and possibilities NFO holds, the facilitation of connection and interaction between user and NFO gatekeeper / spaceholder is important to stay in touch with the various experiences they encounter. Not only in connecting new members to NFO, but also already engaged particpants. 3. In addition to knowing the context and interacting with gatekeepers, instrumentalizing agency over the content contributors produce can be a way to endorse a feeling of safety.

in order to facilitate a caring and safer online space (strategies) 4. Have a conscious and visible value system that inspires peoples behaviour, interaction and knowledge sharing. 5. Have a method of preventing harmful or violent interactions and content to take place on the platform. (Articulate what is harmful and violent?) 6. initial project proposition - 2018 It is time to question how/where we gather our knowledge and who gets to create knowledge and ‘facts’. Feminist, Queer and intersectionally focused performance, video, film and spaces are sites of knowledge creation by continuing to questioning both how we live and how we could live differently. Due to the often precarious and transitory nature of these projects they have a great need to be recorded in the public domain, yet struggle to fulfill the criteria for existing open source structures such as Wikipedia. Wikipedia offers the illusion of inclusion, whilst maintaining normative patriarchal concepts of knowledge creation (via referencing structures) and system biases (predominantly male contributors). Why have certain types of knowledge been marginalised from contemporary online encyclopedias? How can we use artistic strategies to address this?

Not Found On’s aim is to create a wiki platform and to develop a inclusion guide for feminist, queer and intersectional projects, artists, curators, spaces and publications. The platform will function as free, editable resource and a space to question what knowledge is created by artistic practice/how can they be recorded in relation to each other as a valuable resource. Developing a publication for in real life (IRL) workshops to encourage greater participation in archiving our own artistic communities.
