The organisation exists online and in IRL non-permanent spaces.

SWARM (Sex Worker Advocacy and Resistance Movement) was founded in 2009, under the original name Sex Worker Open University.

The IRL activity was based mainly in London until in 2018, the north of England branch (SWARM North) was created. SWARM NORTH (as of 04.07.19) have held meetups in Leeds and York, and on the 2nd June 2019, International Whore's Day, they held a sex worker only brunch in Leeds.
